Introduction - A Real (Re)treat for Yogis

An impressive, pristine, natural space where total absorption into a quiet, gentle and deep transmission of yoga, daily meditation, and living ecology is the essential focus.

This is total immersion into a yogi way of living.

The chosen guest teachers reflect the ethos at El Convento. Their daily life and teaching are clear examples of their deep commitment to yoga, living meditation, sustainable ecological living, and supporting and sustaining their respective communities.

This is an opportunity to live in a community like situation where you can develop awareness of how to contribute to positive group dynamics, develop a support network and be part of a harmonious convivial atmosphere.

We incorporate some Karma Yoga into our retreats, we would be happy if guests participated.

We encourage guests to have fun - music, dancing, singing and creativity can be a wonderful part of the retreats. (maybe not Vipassana!!)

Retreat Accommodation - Natural Structures, Nomadic Tents, Bohemian Vibes…

 

You can choose from a range of eco-dwellings:

  • A hand made Wooden Cabin on stilts with beautiful veranda and views furnished with futon twin beds and natural accessories.
  • A hand made round Adobe/Clay hut made from 100% pure earth and thatched wooden roof with amazing views, furnished with futon twin beds and earth accessories.
  • Hand made huge 16´ Tipis, comfortable and spacious with a natural bohemian feel. They are furnished with twin futon mattresses, carpets and accessories. They sleep two very easily.
  • Ethnic Round Tents approx 13´, these sleep one person comfortably and are big enough to stand up inside, roll up the sides for ventilation and a to provide you with a conical shade, furnished with futon beds and natural accessories.

All bedding and sheets are provided.

 

Bathroom and Washing Facilities

The toilets are communal and are totally stylish water free composting systems with all the “must haves” of the remote toilet!

All grey waters from showers and hand basins are recycled and used to water flower- beds.

Compost generated from the toilets is used to fertilise olive trees

Experience the liberating sensation of taking a shower outside in a natural hideaway, Asian style, with cool fresh mountain water and views of the mountains and birds soaring overhead.

All electricity at El Convento is provided by solar power so be careful with it!!


The Water Tank

Up at the Convent building there is a large communal water deposit that is fed by a constant spring, this water is used to irrigate the vegetable gardens.

Guests are welcome to use this deposit to swim in and it serves as a fantastic swimming pool with fabulous views. Due to the fact that the deposit is constantly being fed by fresh mountain water it is always cool and clean without having to use chemicals.

Please note that this deposit is communal and therefore other owners of El Convento use it to swim in, and to irrigate from, and thus it is occasionally emptied.

 

The Inner Space - The Yoga Shala

The yoga space is located in the convent building itself in the cloisters of the old monastery. It is an elegant, bold structure made from stone, with a huge arch in the middle of the room, it has a lovely stripped wooden floor and a wood burner to keep cosy in winter. It is a wonderful room to practice in as it has a strong inward focus and very pleasant constant temperature in the hot summer months.

 Dates

The climate in the Summer months at El Convento is wonderful. It is warm and sunny with permanent blue skies. Due to its altitude and the fact that it has a microclimate even the hot summer is very bearable and there is always a cool refreshing breeze the evenings are warm.

All prices for retreats are quoted for 1 person sharing either a wooden cabin, an adobe hut, a large tipi or for single occupancy in a smaller round ethnic tent for 1 week

  • All bathroom and toilet facilities are shared.

We recommend that guests stay for 2 weeks to get the maximum from these retreats. However it is always possible to stay for 1 week, even if the teacher is running a 2 week block.

If you would like to book a place on one of the retreats please contact the office for availability before making your payment online. You can do this by clicking the payment button below which will process your payment securely.

Full payment is due at time of booking.

Cancellation fees will be incurred as follows:

  • Up to 4 weeks before start date - loss of deposit
  • 4 to 2 weeks before start date - loss of 50% of total price
  • 2 weeks or less - loss of 100% of price
